On May 5, 2011 the Institute on Human Rights of ANAS conducted the scientific-theoretical conference on "Role of Heydar Aliyev and ADR in the history of Azerbaijan statehood" dedicated to the 88th anniversary of nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev and 93rd anniversary of ADR. The conference was attended by MPs, representatives of ministries, committees and international organizations, academics and mass media representatives.
Director of the Institute on Human Rights, deputy of Milli Majlis Mustafayeva Ayten opened the conference noting the invaluable role of the nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev in the history of the Azerbaijani people. Despite the difficult international relations and war, the speaker said that the first Democratic Republic in the Muslim East significantly influenced the future of the Azerbaijani people. She also noted that in April, 1920 the XI Russian Army overthrew the government emerged in the 18-20s of last century, but Azerbaijan restored its independence in October 1991. The nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev was the founder of independent Azerbaijan. Mustafayeva A. spoke about the invaluable merits of Heydar Aliyev in the preservation and development of the independent Azerbaijan, his statements, thoughts and speeches about the important activity of ADR.
